‘Silent Dispatch’ is bambinodj’s full-length debut. It’s on OST.
bambinodj’s unearthly set-savers have seen his Soundcloud plundered by DJs across the stylistic spectrum — there’s a 100% chance your favourite DJ’s USB creaks and strains under the sheer volume of questionably ripped 128 kpbs bambinodj tunes it safeguards.
The album sees Bino ascend, metamorphosing far beyond the club-dwelling trancehall heartbreakers of his early work. Opener ‘Closure’ alights somewhere spiritual, levitating Coco’s ‘Tolou’ vocal over a drifting, tingling mirage. It’s followed by the aerated, gold-flecked ‘Fanta Bay’, before the low-slung rhythmics of Phillip Jondo collab ‘Aug Log’ and ‘Highest Praise’ move in to hold your physiology hostage. Impossible to resist by any person with a body.
This is music for pure hearts and tingling temples. ‘Missin’ You’ reconstitutes a yearning Masicka vocal over weightless synths and an agile stomp, while ‘Carrier’ is pure unbound radiance, like captured sunbeams freed from enchanted glass. The weightless flutter of ‘Spiegelkabinett’ rounds it all out with a skygazing sigh.
Where much of his previous music dwells in strobe-lit shadowzones, ‘Silent ‘Dispatch’ basks in a crisp, edenic glow — a barefoot slow whine in a dewey, otherworldly meadow. Praise be.
