This project started about a year ago. I had a small opportunity to write and produce for Drake while working on my last album. Ultimately, that material wasn’t used—and honestly, it sent me into a kind of misery mode. I became obsessed with deconstructing dark R&B, trying to build something cooler on my own. That obsession evolved into the work you’re hearing on my most recent releases.
Sonically, it draws from Prince and D’Angelo, but it’s built on a conceptual framework rooted in high-pop art—with references to Warhol, Pierre Paulin, and Kerry James Marshall—and lyrical nods to Nietzsche and Freud. Good stuff. Excited for it to resonate with you all.
