Recorded over a period of three weeks in August 2021 using Khyam Allami & Counterpoint's Apotome, a browser based and completely free generative music system that enables users to explore transcultural tuning systems. Any melodies present were entirely created by the software.
The album was recorded by Blue Mysteries during a bout of Cluster Headaches, an extremely painful and debilitating recurring neurological disorder that not only causes extreme pain, but also insomnia, cognitive turbulence, and a general sense of separation from the human world, of dislocation. It's entirely possible a similar sense of dislocation may have been shared by many others, for a variety of reasons, during the ongoing global COVID crisis.
Playing with the Apotome software allowed for some sense of fun, purpose and provided a much needed distraction during this difficult time.

Sounds were recorded from Apotome using the free audio editing software Audacity and the pieces were gradually layered and put together collage style. On the tracks Shadows and Sleep & Sleeplessness, elements of the tracks were fed into Holly Herndon's Holly+ browser based software to produce the voice sounds heard on these pieces. Dislocated was therefore recorded on an ancient laptop, using internet browser-based generative software for sound sources and edited, produced and mixed using a free audio editor and some free plug-ins.

You may be glad to know that the bout of Cluster Headaches have now passed and won't reoccur for 2 or 3 years, making it entirely possible that you won't hear from Blue Mysteries again for some time to come.
In the meantime I hope you'll find Dislocated of some interest.
Huge thanks to Khyam Allami, Holly+, Joe Posset for the indispensable advice, coffee, ice and Dr Hofmann.
