A project by the Claws community for 'Server vs Sever': an annual event where music production communities compete to create the best EP. The theme for 2022 was: 'Secrets'.
~
The story behind the EP is as follows:
There was a huge release of documents surrounding the USA military complex. These became known as the ‘Nevada Papers’.
These papers revealed a huge research program conducted in collaboration with the CIA and the US department of defence. Psychologists working for the CIA and DoD had researched extensively into ‘neurophonology’. This was the process of manipulating subjects such as prisoners of war to reveal classified information, to alter their memory or inflict mind control.
In neurophonology, the subject is played a series of different audio tracks. These invoke certain psychological responses and cause the subject’s brain to act in a different manner. The leaks also suggested this was an extremely dangerous process often resulting in psychological damage or even death to the subjects. The audio tracks were produced by large teams of neurophonology researchers. Each blip of sound affects the brain in different ways.
There are thought to be hundreds of these tracks. However, only a small handful were ever obtained by the public. It is believed many files were lost as their discoverers became paralysed by their sound.
The tracks that are available have been described to ‘open the mind and elevate the consciousness’. These tracks are dangerous to listen to and must be approached with caution!
