thinking about longing, of feeling so close but also so far from people you care about, the absurdity of those opposite dynamics. i was also (and still am) pretty fascinated w the voice of older people. i imagine this song in the voice of an older couple. i want to imagine my young person longing in their world. the anxiety of being young in a person for whom youth is a distant. that i have no way of understanding these characters is the thrill of it.
