“El Que Pida Picante, Que Se Lo Aguante” was born during the energy blackouts of 2024 that happened in Ecuador from September to November of that year where Ecuadorians had energy blackouts of up to 16 hours. During this time Entrañas wanted as an exercise see how much can he advance on a track before his laptop battery drained out. The phrase “El Que Pida Picante, Que Se Lo Aguante” refers to the idea that, in the current moment, someone coming from Ecuador who wants to make a living from electronic music will have to face a difficult path. The country’s geopolitical situation is going through serious cultural challenges, marked by a major lack of funding for the arts sector, as well as a constant sense of uncertainty. It is unclear whether things will improve anytime soon, or if power outages will return this year—or even be worse than they were two years ago.
