Radio Waves at the End of Time marks the first release in a series of archival recordings from Naarm (Melbourne) based artist Mat Watson.
These recordings span the years 2007 to 2014, a period during which Watson was fully immersed in the explorations of the 1972 EMS Synthi AKS. Many of the tracks included in this release have either remained unfinished or never released.
Some of these recordings sound like library music, some pure exploratory and others, like what you'd expect from the Synthi, capturing the unfiltered essence of this renowned vintage electronic instrument, its quirks and sonic potential. Each track stands as a moment in time, where the instrument itself is at the central focus.
These works are a reflection of the beauty found in creative isolation and electronic exploration, free from external pressures or motivations.
Released October 4, 2024
Recorded by Mat Watson in a share house bedroom in North Fitzroy and Carlton in Melbourne, Australia between 2007 and 2014.
Album cover photo shot by Nadiah Abdulrahim in 2012
Mastered by Casey Rice 2024
