You hear voices, they are everywhere. Long enough you listen to the soundscape around you, and you feel a growing desire to speak. After overcoming all the obstacles within yourself and forgetting for a while about the eternal drone flowing around, you break your silence. The silence, which always contains the possibility of sound, is suddenly filled with its presence, and you hear your voice, but you don't recognize it. Barely separated from you, the shimmering stream, divided into unfamiliar timbres, traveling through too dense or too thin air, suddenly resonates with other objects or fades away as well. What is said no longer belongs to you and reaches the other insofar as he sees his own reflection in it. The one who speaks disappears in the produced utterance, but the listener reassembles it and is also transformed by it. The agency of sound reunites the speaker, the utterance and the listener, a cutting off of one stream and the beginning of a new one.
And finally, when the vision dissolves, you hear voices again, you invent language again and learn to speak, and the story begins again.

Created in collaboration during the spring of 2023, the Voices EP is the debut work of gassenengel and eolet, and the first EP in the Beatriz label catalog. The recording was born in a series of spontaneous reflections and refractions, in a free exchange of contemplations, impressions and emotions embodied in ambient, electronic sounds and experimental sketches.
The important sign is that the authors met through the Beatriz creative magic and get inspired by the impulse of her energy to this day. 🧚🏻
