LAST LAP (JPO013) is an open-heart race, without
brakes, where every sound is a corner taken at the
limit.
Hollyspleef delivers his most extreme and visceral project
yet: an album that races over the burning asphalt of hybrid
electronic music, weaving through jungle influences, fluid
jazz incursions, and moments of pure sonic tension.
A work that alternates furious accelerations with
contemplative slowdowns, like a race where every lap
is different, unpredictable, alive.
The album is born from a strong need: to step ﺧﺎرج the
comfort zone, to challenge oneself again, to push the gas
until the tires start to screech.
After taking shape in the studio, the project began to
move, to transform. Its “road debut” happens with other
riders—musicians ready to share the race, balancing
technique and improvisation.
A dynamic and powerful electronic trio: Carlo T omasi
on guitar, Luigi Bianco on drums, and Hollyspleef on
machines and sound direction. An ensemble moving like
a perfectly synchronized team of drivers and mechanics,
refining every detail, every transition, every moment of
acceleration and stillness. The project has been tuned
with the precision of a racing team before the decisive
competition, where every sound is calibrated and every
imperfection becomes part of its identity .
The sound? It comes from the best underground
garages—the authentic ones—soaked in oil and
smoke, with the scent of carburetors still lingering in the
air. Rhythms are tight, synths blaze like high-speed
motorcycles, while deep basslines pulse like V12 engines
ready to explode. There’s also room for a special featuring
with Plms and Carma, adding an unexpected window into
the journey .
LAST LAP is an spontaneous, free-flowing record, built on
immediacy and intuition, yet driven by a clear direction: to
go beyond, to push to the limit—and then break through it.
It’s not just music: it’s a cinematic, physical experience,
meant to be lived through headphones or in front of the
stage, like being in the front row of an illegal race among
strobe lights, smoke, and the roar of the crowd.
