We’re psyched to be releasing the debut EP by long-time Local Action friend and family member, I, JORDAN. Born in Doncaster but based in East London, Jordan’s felt like part of this label for years now - frequently playing our nights, DJing b2b with Yamaneko and Finn and running the New Atlantis label and social with Deadboy.
Although New Atlantis - a bi-monthly ambient social in Peckham that’s taken on a life of its own in the last year - reflects Jordan’s deep interest in ambient music, they come from a full-throttle dance music background, and that side of Jordan is pushed right to the forefront here. The record’s title track - currently being rinsed by Finn, Teki Latex and more - flips a big soul sample over a relentless bassline, while ‘DN4’ ups the tempo, drawing from Jordan’s love of classic hardcore and jungle. Finally, ‘Through Lacuna’ and ‘Leaving Stanley’ ride the EP out on a starry-eyed note, while Cork’s fast-rising ELLLL cranks the sub up to 11 on her remix of ‘Through Lacuna’.
