Iron Lang’s debut series of sonic installments, Only Tears Can Quell These Flames, explores the omnipresence of sound in contemporary life, emphasizing the connection between the physical world and its digital manipulation. The work reflects on how our sensory engagement with real and virtual spaces shapes our perception of acoustic phenomena and transforms our relationship with both natural and constructed environments.

Each installment is built from field recordings captured across Italy between 2023 and 2024, electromagnetic interferences, and raw sounds produced by instruments Iron Lang crafted by hand. Through digital processing, these source materials are reimagined— blurring the line between environmental texture and musical form, and turning distant murmurs and mechanical resonance into emotionally charged sonic landscapes.
