The first song to emerge from Isik Kural’s forthcoming record Moon in Gemini is a curious and poetic tale about meeting one's own ghost. On "Almost a Ghost," billowy vocal samples and finger-picked guitar set a gentle scene before Isik introduces the song’s main character, Stephanie; the track’s guest vocalist, Stephanie Roxanne Ward, pka spefy, around whom Isik based the text after the collaborators exchanged a playful back-and-forth on the topic of ghosts. While Isik’s lyrics softly blur the edges of sense, starry-eyed harp, whispering bells and other sonic apparitions blink in and out of focus, summoning spirits. In the words of Isik, “Almost a Ghost” speaks to that potent place "between miracles."
