In conversation with my abuelo, we began discussing the history of our lineage. I asked, “For how long before the Spaniards arrived was our family in Bolivia?“ He lightly chuckled and said, “Katrina, we were there for so long, Pachamama herself put our ancestor on the island of the moon.“ The romantic, poetic name sent me on a deep dive into the history of this island and traced its lore all the way back to the pre-Incan people. This album pays homage to the indigenous mythology that was passed down from ancient time to now.
