OBJECT DOM, the third full length from Los Angeles JAWS, explores the ambiguous terrain of spirituality and self-image within the rip-current info stream of our modern condition. With slippery technologies opening void portals into endless riffs on the Narcissus myth, the confession experience, the orgasm, the private concert, where does value reside? Has it abstracted into the ephemera of experience or further calcified into the defined contours of the object? OBJECT DOM attempts to trace the movement of value through this inexact landscape.
Sonically the album looks to Baltimore Club and its endless variations on the Sing Sing break as both inspiration and as a metaphor for the informational hall of mirrors we inhabit, where the theme itself is subsumed within the oceanic variations there of. Staying true to the vocal-centered tenets which have always anchored the project (and from which it derives its namesake), the exquisite skeleton of Bmore Club is reimagined into a variety of situations into which the vocalist must navigate.
