Abstract
The writer’s fourth output is dense with music composition, songs and lyricism grounded in battles and the reconstruction of one’s “old self”. Steeped in themes of reconciliation, destruction & rebuilding, outsiderism, retribution, nature & animals - all serving as pillars in cultivating a mass of inner peace. Drawing from different emotions; regret, love, stillness, stress, courage and fear - the writer deeply faces the innermost condition of the mind.
From start to finish the album unfolds like an open diary acting as a comprehensive and detailed entry and coming just months after his 27-hour long performance ‘Sands’ at Gavin Brown gallery Sant'Andrea de Scaphis where he explored varied iterations of the songs that would now make up the majority of the album. Similarly as with viewing sculpture or witnessing the performance - Timpa plays between when things begin and end with this output. Comparatively, more so than in previous releases we find the singer, writer/ producer’s poetic lyricism front center of all the dense and smokey musical atmosphere - at moments; in stark contemplation but at all times eager in dialogue with present self.
Recorded between New York City, Paris, Richmond Hill,
Ontario & Berlin
