Okay, so with the second half of the year, I haven't really been able to release as much as I would have liked. A lot of that falls onto the fact that I started university in September, and it basically took over my life. That transition was difficult personally, so it took a while for me to adjust, therefore focusing less time on music. Fortunately, I feel better adjusted to university life, and now look to find a better balance between uni work, friends and family, and music. Over the Christmas break, I've had more time to relax and focus on the latter two, with this lil track almost an accident in a way. I thought of a cute guitar riff and piano chords for an ambient/lo-fi esque track, and quickly got to work on that. About 30 hours later (I didn't work on it for 30 hours straight lol), Winter Pinings was completed. With this track in particular, I didn't want to use any drums, instead having the track move consistently with new melodies and chords introduced, in a calming manner that can befit an ambient track. The theming behind this is about someone who longs for another individual during the festive season, almost a forbidden love in that they can't get this individual out of their head, but they enjoy that. I've never really done love songs before as I hadn't experienced those feelings much in my personal life; but as I've grown to accept my asexuality and identity, I've felt first hand what its like to be into someone so much that the emotion makes it difficult to function (yet that feeling I also sorta like? it's confusing). Anyway, I hope y'all have an amazing rest of the festive season. I wanted to put out just one more track before 2025, and my mentality going forward is to release more rather than leave mostly finished tracks in an unfinished state (lets hope I actually go through with this).
