Metrist has been “blowing minds, breaking brains and snapping necks” for a decade now, primarily releasing on Timedance and his own SOSOSO label to build a singular sound that’s half studied sound design, half rave-weathered spangledness. Club music that’s low-brow and high-brow in equal measures, basically: esoteric ecstasy music.
‘Acka’ and ‘Thatbues’ have all the hallmarks of our favourite Metrist releases, galloping drums, wonky synth riffs and snatched samples that feel like a call to arms every time they hit, but also feel like the start of something new, taking the wide-eyed rush of his ‘Laco’ remix as a jumping off point. We can’t wait to see where he goes from here.
“Finding anguish in function and iridescence in puddles is forever the thing that stirs my still. A love and respect for Tom and Local Action, a tangible and very real dedication to bringing joy.”
