“Ultra valid” is the first single from Oliver Coates’ forthcoming record Throb, shiver, arrow of time—a portal into somatic chiaroscuro where the embers of imperfect memories augment in vast, mercurial dimensions. “Ultra valid” sets a soaring sermon ablaze against shadows of droning silt, casting Coates’ metallic modulations into a new arena of airborne apparitions and lurking shapes. Density and intricacy meld as Coates imbues the track with fluttering shimmers originally created for the score of Charlotte Wells’ 2022 film Aftersun, carrying the textural aches of trawling through memories and inner reverberations.
