With "Time Is Trying to Tie Your Hands," Paluca combines sparse drum and bass rhythms with cinematic soundscapes. For the opening tracks, sharp inharmonic sounds, distorted rumbles, and distant echoes create haunting themes. Whimsical accents like a playful melody made of bells or a person clearing their throat used as percussion add psychological complexity.
The tracks "Atavism" and "Open Close" have a vastness to the ambients and droning. And captures the disoriented sense of time from being detached of a circadian rhythm like one might imagine how it feels being on a space station.
The closing track builds in intensity, departing the spareness for colliding layers of industrial sounds.
