Photay’s Windswept was, in the producer's own words, a nine-track sonic exploration of the wind as a "powerful, deep, unpredictable and at times overwhelming spirit.” Traversing IDM, ambient-techno, and jazz funk electronic modes in unpredictable, undeniable ways, Windswept blew away those familiar and new to Photay’s music, even being named the #1 album of 2024 by Juno Daily. Six months after Windswept’s release, Photay returns with Windswept: Expansions, featuring two previously unreleased tracks from the album’s surplus of exceptional sound. As its title suggests, “Jet Stream” steadily gains momentum before taking off into a propulsive techno ripper. Meanwhile, “Aeolian” leans into the producer’s penchant for electronic almost-pop, featuring a rare vocal lead looped into a melodic ear worm. These two new tracks appear alongside the producer’s own remix of Windswept’s standout single “Air Lock," bringing a new sheen to the album fave.
