“Mortem Sui” is the debut record by Italian composer and experimenter Semionauta. It was composed in isolation during two years of drastic global change with a laptop, custom-built software and a pair of headphones. The album is a 6-track journey through contemporary tropes of the human experience. Here, exaggerated simultaneity, instability and aphasia coexist to depict the intricate imagery of a world overloaded with stimuli and existential contradictions.
Although unexpected in its arrangement choices and sound manipulation, Semionauta embraces pop sensibilities transforming them into jagged clouds of twisted rhythm and hazy digital melancholia. Each composition morphs into something more confusing, brutal, and moody as the listener gets lost into swirling patterns of digital noise, demented melodies and militant percussions resembling artillery at times and fluid regurgitations at others. All of the above serve as the main ingredients of a ferocious, raw and heartfelt debut.

Bio: Cofounder of the newborn platform Ecosistemi Artificiali, Semionauta employs self-made digital instruments and hardware interfaces that adhere or interact with the body, blurring the boundaries between the digital and the physical spheres. His live performances aim to deliver intense multi-sensorial experiences making use of interaction design, blinding strobe lights and misty atmospheres on top of unsettling sound design.
