Artist and composer Soli City looks at the landscape to explore contemporary melancholy on their first full length album ‘PARADOXE’. Woven around synthesised voices, with classical instrumentation and radical collage techniques, the album illuminates our complex stage of society with the computer as a prism. Polished strings, reverberations of rooms and synthetic voices rev, swirl and seethe across gradients of joy and sorrow, alternately accelerating and diffuse.

“How can one write compositions that consciously comment on oneself in an era and society characterised by such fundamental opacity and alienation as ours?”

The question is a paradox that can only be explored through an artistic lens. By highlighting the contrasting aspects of our relationship with technology and our surroundings, and musically oscillating between the tense contrasts, Soli City proves their artistic musculature for the movement between them.
