Sophia Stel flits between poignant pop, patchwork synths and textural strands of dance music, all softly lit in the grey area between fantasy and revelation. Sophia, is a 25 year old queer songwriter & producer who is a committed skater in the Vancouver area, largely existing in obscurity until now. After signing with New York’s Pack Records (aldn, Internet Girl, Godford) & confirmed to open for EKKSTACY on May 25th in Vancouver, things are finally starting to heat up. On her debut EP, the six tracks piece together fragments of visceral meaning, a reminder of how things were and how they have come to be. It’s a certain quality that possesses you.

Sophia Stel on “Object Permanence”: “This song is my favorite on the EP and the final track I wrote for it. I wrote and tracked it all over a simple 2 chord guitar loop. It only took a couple of hours to get everything feeling right. From there I just spent a couple of days in the studio tracking the rest of the guitars and vocals and adding drums and it was done.”
