first sketched in Red Widow (redwidow.bandcamp.com) and released as a demo after Sarah Goldfarb's passing, "MY MIRROR MAKES ME SICK (hystrcl_rmx_07312025)" has finally been fully restored and finished, as performed at Union Pool in an opening set for John Maus (johnma.us) and posted directly down to the file name
this futurist death chant militia of rhythm and melody came to being on an awful, self-deprecating day with Sarah, the greatest person I'll ever know and who was happy seemingly every moment. since we seized this unease it was one of our favorites to play and to plan, but i couldn't bring myself to release anything but the demo
until this summer, when John Maus called upon me to perform. this song felt not only necessary and my most celebrated but also vindicating. Sarah's backing vocals and some of her lyrics are restored, the screaming concept has been re-introduced--it's become the "British invasion Death Grips" anthem she always called it
it's perhaps almost too self-explanatory, but this is an attacking song that tries to find transcendence in contempt, and musical beauty in morbid madness. i hope you like it
