On "ekko", the two musicians explore ambient compositions with a cool, Nordic foundation – created in the Danish city of Kolding. Expansive synth layers meet melodies with a nostalgic sensibility, while the structures remain uncompromising in both length and arrangement.
The album is by producers and composers Gustav Them Oxenbøll (Them) and Marcus Bjørn Larsen (Eurostar). It’s their first full-length project together under their own names.
In recent years, the two have also worked together in the trio Heartbreak Hotel with producer Niklas Krautz – a project that began with an aesthetic fascination for eurodance, used as a starting point to develop a shared sonic universe. This new album under their own names is an evolution of that process – a portrait of their shared language and artistic chemistry.
Behind Them is Danish musician Gustav Them Oxenbøll – with a background in chill-beats, a passion for sound design in games, and a sharp eye for dance aesthetics. His latest release Untitled_002 received attention from, among others, Year_0001, Hidden NY, DMY, and Stereofox.
Eurostar is the alias of Marcus Bjørn Larsen, a Danish composer who in recent years has worked on electronic music for everything from experimental soundscapes to cross-disciplinary projects. He has taken part in a number of collaborations across different formats, but this album marks his first official release under the Eurostar name.
