The artist duo León & Cociña, acclaimed for their film « The Wolf House », music videos for PJ Harvey and The Smile, and collaboration with Ari Aster on “Beau is Afraid”, premiered their latest film “Los Hiperboréos” at the Cannes Film Festival's Fortnight in 2024.

Actress and psychologist Antonia Giesen decides to film a script revealed by a voice within the mind of one of her patients. Seeking collaboration with the filmmaking duo León & Cociña, they craft a crossroads of theatre, science fiction, animation and fabulated biopic, populated by parallel worlds and haunted by the shadow of a Chilean Nazi writer as a demonic figure.

The original score by Valo Sonoro explores textures and sounds to bring the film's universe to life, using the recorder in particular for the narrative, evolving and becoming more complex as the film progresses. Francisco Visceral, “Metalhead” in the film, uses his electric guitar to open and close a secret world. Cristóbal León & Joaquín Cociña masterfully open the doors to their laboratory. And finally, Yair Gómez Szmulewicz dances in concentric circles to bless the film.

« Los Hiperbóreos (Original Score) » is an experimental and sensory journey to the heart of León & Cociña’s politic and poetic new film.
