CANTICO is a ritual-driven sonic work that reinterprets the traditional rhythms of Salento’s Taranta through an experimental and contemporary lens. Rooted in Griko language, Mediterranean symbolism, and autobiographical fragments, the album unfolds as a journey across inner states - from fracture to integration, from loss to recomposition.
Drawing from the healing function of music within tarantism, sound becomes a transformative force: a tool for exorcism, release, and redefinition of the self. Percussion, voice, and texture guide the listener through shifting thresholds, where archaic references coexist with deconstructed electronics and urban influences.
The project moves fluidly between personal memory and collective ritual, weaving together family archives, migration narratives, and symbolic imagery. Rather than following a linear song structure, CANTICO builds an immersive environment where each track acts as a passage within a broader process.
At its core, the album explores belonging as something that transcends geography - a shared emotional space sustained through sound, memory, and transformation.
