A lost artefact from the old times, the junk-king seeks it for its legendary power, which will enable him to rule the REPUBLIC. However, the junk-king will meet heavy resistance, for the FOREST CHAMPION has awoken the old STONE SENTINELS: hefty rectangular golems who will guard their new queen to the end. Our story starts in the caves of DUNBRE, where the fabled WIZARDMASTER concocts his next mischievous plan. He is a sorcerer responsible for all manner of misshapen monsters that roam the dark corners of the REPUBLIC, but this time his sights lay on the creation of a potion that will control something far more powerful… memory! Alas, one too many spells hath rendered this crooked warlock unable to recall his past. WIZARDMASTER stirs and stirs, dreaming of a power that once coursed through his veins.
A surviving machination of the old wizard lives in the ruined air-hanger known now as BAD PLACE. There is logic in this title; its sole resident is an ungodly creature that lurks under the arching corrugated roof. A beast formed from the ancient fighter jets, a spell hangs over it that renders its home a prison. Forced to guard WIZARDMASTER’S stash of dusty scrolls by powerful magic, the metal monster PURPLEHANDS waits for anyone unfortunate enough to stumble into his path.
Unfortunate dog-man SCUD, created as a cruel joke by the aforementioned spell-smith, is an imperfect mesh of owner and beast. Consequently, he and his man-dog companion SID MAN roam the REPUBLIC searching for a way to reverse their horrid predicament. Their unending quest has brought SCUD to the BAD PLACE; WIZARDMASTER’S scrolls may be just what the pair need. They are all too aware of the dreaded entity that guards said information; SCUD will try to sneak in alone.
On the other side of the REPUBLIC, in the pub-settlement of LITTLE MALTSHEER, its business as usual for the underhanded landlord BEAK BEAK. Business is booming: the BAY ORC’S dirty patrons are hooked on his sudsy brew and toe-curling pub snacks. Chuckling, he counts his coins, unaware he is marked for death! The arachnid-assassin couple EGGSACC are the finest sell-swords money can buy; the fresh contract for BEAK BEAK’s head and a hefty sack of coins is good business. The spiders sharpen their fangs, observing MALTSHEER from a vantage point…
