“La Profunda” was fully pre-produced in Puerto Colombia, Atlántico, where the band settled in mid-2013. Inspired by the ocean and surfing, most of the songs were born there, though some ideas came from Bogotá.
Rehearsals took place under the shade of a nispero tree, in a period of growth that saw Sicotrópico evolve from a duo into a quartet with bass and a second guitar.
The album was finally recorded in Barranquilla in 2018, five years after guitarist Omar Sánchez Vian arrived in Puerto Colombia, following a journey of concerts across the Colombian Caribbean. “La Profunda” stands as a testimony of musical rebirth and an intimate bond with the sea and life.
