Since 2009, the currently New York-based Ben Jones has been making music under the name Constant Smiles. In that time, he has amassed an expansive body of work, one that has forever been fluid, both in the artist’s ability to move between styles and his ability to work with a large, diverse group of collaborators, of which there have been over 50. Moonflowers, his newest, sees the Constant Smiles line-up more solid than in years past—Jones is alongside drummer/vocalist Nora Knight and bassist Spike Currier—and focused on a lilting, lush folk music. It’s a new chapter for an underground music lifer, subtly triumphant in its spirit.
