The debut double single from the duo Eye Level took a whopping four years to complete. Upon listening to both tracks, it’s not hard to understand why that was the case. Both songs are over five minutes long. Each one has a delicate, considered touch that fuses more traditional choral moves with contemporary electronic production techniques indebted to a variety of genres, the kind of genres I could name here but you can probably picture in your mind’s eye. Every sound seems ruminated upon but not overworked; it hits like a medieval sci-fi movie where knights joust with lasers. Or something. I don’t know! One word that comes to mind? Epic sauce. This blog post is going off the rails. (Read that last sentence in the style of a rap mixtape voiceover artist.) The project, a collaboration between the British artists Aria SL and Daniel Ball, seems to have a bright future. Get in on Eye Level on the ground level.
