If you put your ear up to DJ Seashellโ€™s music, you will hear a wild, eclectic mix of club music that doesnโ€™t take itself too seriously. The project, which is just one of the many monikers of Bostonโ€™s Caleb Chase, has a new release called Ammonites & Belemnites; it starts with some whimsical text-to-speech action before lunging into the first of many (total track count: 19) post-rave burners.

The music here seems to be influenced by a range of fast dance styles, though it has a layer of nautical irreverence that helps it stand in its own space. Some of the tracks here would work on more rave-forward dancefloors, while othersโ€”"more_than_just_idle_chatter,โ€ with its squeaky toy ambiance and Foodman-esque stumbleโ€”are pure head-warpers. Itโ€™s the perfect soundtrack for trying to sell some seashells by the seashore. And then partying a little bit afterwards.
