The newest release from ultra caro, an artist and PC Music affiliate perhaps best known by computer music heads as a member of the group Planet 1999, has an appropriate title. Nothing evokes the yearning quality of a late-night journal session quite like the sound of a pensive DX piano. The album is full of intimate computer music, zoning in on the more emo side of the larger PC Music sensibility. It makes for excellent evening listening. One major highlight is “fallen,” a collaboration with the Australian artist Fatshaudi—it smears on those timeless DX keys, creating the sonic equivalent of a light dimmer switch at 25 percent.
