Born in Istanbul but now based in East London, Zeynep Ağcabay makes music that melds disparate cultural inputs into new shapes. Memories From The Future, her new EP out now on Scorpio Red, is an aptly named group of four tracks that attempt to bottle a very specific, hyper-elusive feeling: memories that have not happened yet but still somehow feel as if they have. The music here is murky, dubby, and pan-regional—you might call it liminal. The EP’s sonics only strengthen its overarching conceptual thesis.
