"Europa" is a cry of lament, a processing of pain and hope at the same time. Ever new headlines about deaths in the Mediterranean, pushbacks, Moria, militarisation of Frontex, threaten to blunt us and to normalise the human rights violations of European migration and refugee management. With "Europe", Amir Abootalebi and Film 2 create a vessel for anger and grief and give courage.
What can I do?
listen to refugees / show solidarity / talk about it with my fellow human beings / leave no one behind / demonstrate / demand human rights consistently / light a candle / donate to one of countless aid organizations* / carry out a political action / vote for politicians, parties, who stand up for safe sea routes and humane asylum policies / welcome strangers into my home / meet people with open arms / don't give up / join an aid organization / draw attention to the abuses / become part of a ship's crew / be brave / connect with other people, because together we are strong
