I wrote all of these songs while visiting family in Florida in December 2023. They were all written in Drop D tuning, my first official exploration into alternate tuning. The lyrics are all centered around the first phrases that came to mind when I wrote the riffs, except for “Dave’s Red Couch” which includes lyrics I originally wrote in 2013. I really like repetitive lyrics, but I know most people hate them. On this EP I decided to lean into this repetition, in many ways to represent the way one’s brain can focus on repetitive thoughts and phrases when you’re stuck in a certain mood or emotional state. With that being said, I promise to take my lyrical content more seriously moving forward.

This EP is a successor to Mattress 4 U from 2022. It’s a step closer to the psychedelic space pop that I originally set out to make over a decade ago. In that vein, I recorded all of these parts myself. I started by isolating myself in upstate New York in early 2024. There I laid down most of the parts to each song before returning to Brooklyn in the spring to finalize each track. I was also watching a lot of movies during this time, and this inspiration had a big impact on the recording process. Hopefully you can hear some of that inspiration and isolation in the songs.
