La Comèdia De Les Equivocacions is one of Pep Llopis’ albums most emblematic of his idea of the composer as a collector of resonances, transforming them into “new forms of sound communication.” Written to score Juli Leal’s stage adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors, which debuted in Valencia in 1987, the music is a blend of lyricism and exuberance, of tenderness and mystery. Synth pop, symphonic rock, and American minimalism resound throughout, forming a resonant fusion—entirely Llopis’ own—of singular fantasticality and flair.
