“plank” by erin wake is a journey through a desolate-yet-intricate mash of sounds. It draws you in then tosses you around; the picture that emerges in my mind upon taking this one in is of someone who is attempting to exit a crumbling empire, one they perhaps never should have entered in the first place. It’s dreary with inviting qualities, a mesmerizing jumble. I have run this back more than a couple of times now, which might be due to the frizzled nature of my brain, forever opening and closing tabs. But still, the track, in its frantic elusiveness, seems to present itself slightly differently with each listen.
