Last month, the Copenhagen-based singer and songwriter Alba Akvama released her first single. It is titled, fittingly, “Drifting.” The song has a sort of dream logic to it; built on a sparse foundation of electric guitar and vocals, it gives enough space for the listener to get lost in their own world. By the time that breathy, jazzy saxophone starts to creep into the corner of the track, Akvama has already established a definitive sonic mood, one that feels ready for iteration.
