Over the past half-decade, the dubby, ambient-leaning NYC by way of Chicago trio Purelink has established themselves as one of the more crucial units in American underground electronic music, both live and in the studio. While the latter part of the group’s practice has gotten plenty of shine, the Purelink Live Experience has been, for the most part, left on the dancefloor. That changes with Live, the group’s new release for the New York label KUDZU AUDIO. Separated into two sides, the tape shows just how good the group has gotten at translating their deep, delicate sound into real space. One side is focused on live remixes and another on unreleased music; the whole thing is enveloping, linking various moments in musical time in a way that is very pure indeed.
