Until recently, the artist Content Provider has remained anonymous. But no more! A press release from the Jordanian label Drowned By Locals—who, along with the Bristol, UK label Bokeh Versions, are co-releasing Endless Summer, the artist’s newest project—has revealed that the person behind the work is Dali de Saint Paul, a Bristol experimental music artist with a wide range of output under her belt; though maybe best known for her raw vocal style, Content Provider sees her in a more beat-heavy electronic mode. In broad strokes, there is something Bristolian about the music here, which is to say that a dubby grit permeates a lot of these tracks. The artist’s collaboration with the Bristol vocalist Birthmark sits somewhere between The Bug and Wolf Eyes. The record’s title track is vertiginous and bass-heavy. Another collaboration, this one with the vocalist D. Ham, is bleepy and dank like early Tricky. One to listen to late at night, possibly in a cloud of smoke.
